About Us

HOW WE RAISE AWARENESS

The city of Houston is predisposed to human trafficking; its position close to the border and its triangular interstate setup with San Antonio and the DFW area allow for quick relocation of trafficked individuals. The fact that this city is nationally the worst on this front currently stands as a blemish toward the state of Texas’ efforts against human trafficking, and without a strong public desire to fight the issue nothing will change. As the scourge of human trafficking increases, inflicting untold devastation on affected individuals and their communities and with the humanitarian crisis on the border not contained, it is necessary for citizens to take a pro-active and multi-pronged approach. Below, we describe media, educational, municipal, and legislative initiatives.

Current Initiatives

Student Support Initiatives:

We are working on creating collegiate chapters around Texas universities to unite the student body against human trafficking. We bring awareness to these students, as they are one of the most targetted demographics. By creating a widespread awareness and support system through these chapters, we hope to create more leaders in the fight, as well as lessen the amount of victims of human trafficking.

Educational Initiatives:

One of the biggest issues of human trafficking is that people are not properly educated regarding the issue. We're working to make all the needed information readily available to the public, so that everyone has the necessary information to notice signs of human trafficking and be able to respond appropriately. We also inform schools and jobs to be aware of the issue so they know how to avoid being in situations where they may trafficked.

Journalistic Initiatives:

Journalism is the best way to keep up with research and curent events, and we're striving to utilize journalism to get the most effective and recent regarding human trafficking. We are constantly working toward sending out our staff to report on areas and aid in any potential research opportunities. Knowledge is our best weapons against human traffickers, and through journalism, we hope to learn exactly how to combat it.

Fundraising Initiatives:

The Order of the White Rose will periodically host events in order to raise money toward future projects. Through these events, we hope to bring our communities together while raising money for a good cause at the same time. We post our future events on our website as well as our social media, so be on the lookout for any future events!
